From Alice's phonograph, to Steven's flute, to your ears!

These two Omaha flute pieces were originally collected by Alice Fletcher and published in her book “ A Study of Omaha Indian Music” in 1893. Alice Fletcher was aided by Francis La Flesche who was her Omaha co-worker and adopted son.

Fletcher first visited the Omahas in 1881. When she was amongst the Omahas, she photographed and recorded Indian folkways first by ear and later with the Edison Cylinder Machine aka the phonograph.

This great track is part of the album, Prairie Paths.

You can be proud of your support for the Native American music and culture with every purchase because Steven's mission is to preserve that beauty in each of his songs, for generations to come.
