This is a solo piece on the Native American flute commemorating the beautiful season of Fall. Seeing that this song commemorates a season of the year, Steven chose to focus on a specific tribe that would move their camps from season to season. This Tribe is the Ojibwe, also known as the Chippewa. Once the season changed to Fall, The Ojibwe would move their camp - usually to a place where there was a pond, marsh or lake. The reason for this is because they would take part in harvesting wild rice. Wild rice is harvested on the water and was one of the Ojibwe’s favorite food.

Sacred Fires are used in many different ceremonies and they offer remembrance, healing and togetherness. A sacred fire is sacred because it is used as an Indigenous traditional wellness approach. It’s a sacred practice meant for individuals to feel open, grounded and connected with the people on the earth and those who have passed on. The Sacred Fire is considered a spiritual doorway that opens to the Spirit World so that individuals could communicate through the fire. Sacred fires are not meant for cooking but rather performing a sacred practice or ceremony. A sacred fire is built by a knowledgeable Indigenous person who has been asked to keep the fire for a spiritual gathering, ritual or ceremony. This person is known as the Firekeeper.

Many indigenous tribes give deep symbolic meaning to the dreamcatcher. Its circular shape represents the continuous Circle of Life. The web inside the circle is designed to catch all dreams, good and bad. The various beads, stones or gems attached to the web represent the spider who will seize the nightmares and bind them so they will be burned away by the morning light.
The dangling feathers are the conduits that allow the good dreams to filter down and into the mind of the sleeping person below. Above all, it’s important to remember that the Dreamcatcher is a work of art - a creation into which each artist pours his or her heart and expression.
